The goal of this app is to make your life in Honolulu more convenient by providing you with helpful information that will help you make daily decisions more efficiently. Current features:
Random meal ideas are presented depending on the time of day. Selecting a meal opens up Apple Maps and the locations that may that meal.
Local news headlines updated hourly from RSS feeds by local news sources.
Ability to view live traffic cameras streams (default) and snapshots from the traffic cameras.
Continuously updated estimated travel times between two locations, such as Mililani to Downtown or Kailua to Pearl City. You can also specify your routes between popular neighborhoods.
Convenient access to the Honolulu Traffic Cameras so you can preview the traffic along your route and the weather along your route (provided a functioning traffic camera is in the area).
Ability to associate traffic cameras to the routes you create so you can always see the state of traffic along your particular route.
Leverages Apple Maps to provide the estimated travel times and the specific directions for your route.

HNL.FYI is owned by medio (a Honolulu Industries LLC dba). medio believes in protecting individual privacy rights. Therefore, we minimize the collection of any data from users in our apps. HNL.FYI does not store any personal data and does not collect and transmit any personal data to medio.
To offer this product for free, advertising from third-parties are embedded in HNL. FYI in the form of banner advertising or other forms. Software code from AdMob from Google’s AdMob, the Google Ads Mobile Software Development Kit, is embedded in the application. As a result, you will be presented advertisements. To improve the performance of AdMob, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect certain information, including:
IP address, which may be used to estimate the general location of a device.
Non-user related crash logs, which may be used to diagnose problems and improve the SDK. Diagnostic information may also be used for advertising and analytics purposes.

Advertising data, such as advertisements the user has seen, may be used to power analytics and advertising features.
Other user product interactions like app launch taps, and interaction information, like video views, may be used to improve advertising performance.
HNL.FYI leverages Apple’s MapKit to execute map functions using Apple Maps on your device and to call Apple’s MapKit API, which would be subject to Apple’s Maps application Terms of Use (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/maps/terms-en.html).
In addition, HNL.FYI makes calls to the City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation web application “goakamai.org” which provides access to Traffic Camera feeds.
